Michael Pennison has been a part-time Business Advisor for Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program at Delgado Community College in New Orleans since 2016. Michael also works part-time with the Louisiana Small Business Development Center.
Bringing with him over 30 years of experience in the areas of small business development, supply chain management, entrepreneurship, business processes, information systems, strategic planning, and energy, Michael has helped over 60 Goldman Sachs scholars with their growth plans.
Since February 2006, Michael has worked part-time with the Louisiana Small Business Development Center. During that time, he assisted small businesses recovering from Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike, and from the BP oil spill. There Michael has helped small business owners with their business plans and financial projections.
Some of the seminars that Michael taught for the LSBDC include: Starting and Financing Your Business; Financial Statements; Marketing; Project Management; Business Plan Writing; Boots to Business (a two-day class for folks considering becoming entrepreneurs after leaving the military); and Re-Boot (a one-day class for veterans considering becoming entrepreneurs).
Michael helps businesses focus on the solutions they offer their customers. Michael also helps business owners consider their long-term goals both personal and business. He has the demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team leader and team player. His manner is comfortable, practical, and logical.
Michael earned his Masters of Business Administration from Loyola University and Bachelors of Science in Computer Science from Nicholls State University. Michael is a lifelong learner.
Michael has worked in business process teams on studies with McKinsey and Company and Booz Allen Hamilton consultants. Michael also worked with the Trade Adjustment Assistance for Farmers assisting over 50 fishermen with business plans.
He is an active member of the National Speakers Association, Greater New Orleans chapter where he is a past president of the chapter. Michael is a Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.) by Institute for Supply Management and Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) by The Association for Operations Management (APICS). Michael is on the board of a local non-profit and assisted three non-profits with their strategic plans.
Michael and his wife Deborah have two adult children.
